boolean value and change if to switch

I have a couple of questions I need help on and would like for you to modify my code on two seperate programs the first one needs to be changed to use boolean values and the other needs to go from using if to switch. I already have the answers on the easy one but I would like to see how proffessionals would solve the problems.
