Dear Sir/Madam,
I am Iulian Seba, a geologist with a large experience in various projects across Europe, Africa and US, working for various deposits.
I am an experienced user of MapInfo, Global Mapper, ArcInfo, QGIS, etc.
Regarding your project and my large African experience:
because of the clouds coverage they are many cases when the satellite images quality is poor, ranging from a "milky area" to a clear view.
Near the tropics, going to the ecuator, such cases area real frequent.
It can be solved by jumping from a satellite provider to another. I have access to something like other 4 sources (except Google Earth), included a Russian satellite images provider.
The analyses of quality, by human eye (nos scripts), will be a little time consuming but I am confident that I can solve.
Regarding the rest, in fact the beginning.
I entered with your example file in a Windows GIS environment which is plotting your location (from the picture) in a location like:
-a palm tree plantation in Sierra Leone, near a small town (village), named Teso (the names are not so exacts in various public maps). Longitude -12° 18' 47.9808", Latitude 7° 38' 54.87".0. *
Hooping that my skills are useful for your project I remain at your disposal for any other details.
Kind regards,
Iulian Seba
*PS. Real funny, on of my competitors is placing your point at Latitude: 84.869999
Longitude: 47.980000 :). I think it is more close to the north than Santa Clause house. I will check :)
