The Infocast 8 is a linux platform based on the Marvell Armada 168 microcontroller. It is highly related to the Chumby Internet readers, and a linux kernel can be installed which permits the device to be used as a linux development platform. AMI images exist on Amazon which support creation of Angstrom Linux kernels for this platform. These can be downloaded as images which can be burned to an SD card and installed on the Infocast 8. The assignment is to install a working kernel on the Infocast 8, with a basic console, support for the internal wireless Ethernet connection, support for USB keyboard and mouse, and SSH access. Chumby 8 has just hit the market (April 2011 [][1]). The company has a reputation for introducing touch screen devices known as "Internet Viewers". These devices are also promoted as being "Hackable" and Customizable by the even have a blog set up for this. Their New Model: the "Chumby 8" Has new features and ports and boast that there are over 1,500 Free Apps available. SONY and BEST BUY came out with their own version in partnership with CHUMBY Industries. Sony also has a New Model due in July 2011. Enough about the history of Chumby. I have an xml feed that I want to show in a Chumby app ([][1]) its basic flash and I have achieved a demo. I want an application that looks good is animated, and allows the user to see multiple XML feeds saved in thier Chumby custimisation options. So to summarise the app should show multiple formatted XML feeds that are updated via X seconds (user defined) with switching between feeds (number of seconds user defined also). Should have nice graphics. In addition to the main XML feeds there are also a subset of smaller XML Feeds which should be shown on a summary page. So we have 1 x Detail Page - multiple XML feeds scrolling 1 x button to see summary page 1 x Summary Page - smaller summary XML feed on one page scrolling if too long.
...also donate offline standalone units to Alzheimers/Dementia Units, schools, children's museums, etc. As of now, our non-profit project uses Chumby C1's and Insignia 8" and 3.5" InfoCasts as our primary offline standalone by running our app off of USB's. But we now want to move our app into internal storage. To do that as quickly and easily as possible, we need the assistance of an expert Chumby hacker. To him or her, our requirements are a no-brainer. To us, they are very important. Ideally, once our app is in the device, what we would like, at boot up, is the Chumby and Insignia asking the user whether to continue on with running our clock app or starting up the Chumby or InfoCast in native mode. shows the Flash version of my patented Synclecron clock. It also now runs on the HTC Android Hero and the new Verizon equivalent. And on the Chumby. Each has a problem with using cookies. I am looking for a programmer to enhance this Flash version of the Synclecron. I want it to run on Windows pc's, HTC Android, Puppy Linux and Chumbies. As I do not have the source for it, this will require a rewrite. I can provide the J2SE source so that you can see the different algorithms used. It will load JPG thumbnail images of videos and then play the video when it's clicked, similar to the functionality of the Big Brother widget ( ) The four screens are shown below. In the first, the thumbnails on the right side would slowly scroll upwards. Every 30 seconds or each time the widget is loaded, a different video would swap to be the main larger image. The text beneath the larger thumbnail will also change to be a description of the larger video. The second screen is simply static and rendered in Flash. FUNCTION DESCRIPTION 1) The flash script should access the URL from my server passing a user provided variable which is entered in the Chumby widget setup.
