Timer

Summary: This is a countdown timer that counts down to zero, then waits for a key press. Once it gets it, it starts counting up. i.e. it becomes a straight timer. The idea, is that this is a countdown to when an event should start. However, it may not start on time, so the timing of the event itself is started manually by someone pressing a start button. The event timing is stopped manually by someone pressing a button. Detailed brief: The application starts up and asks the user to specify a date and time. E.g. 09:30 GMT 04/01/2004 It then counts down to that time, or counts up from it depending on what time and date it is now. So if it’s 09:00 now, the timer will start at -00:30:00 (hh:m:ss) and begin counting down. But if it was 09:35, the timer would start at +00:05:00 and count up. If it was 09:00 on the 03/01/2004 i.e. the day before, the timer would start at -24:30:00 and begin counting down. If the clock was counting down, when it got to zero, it would just flash 00:00:00 until the ‘S’ key was pressed, at which point it would begin counting up from zero. If the clock is counting up and running, it would stop when the ‘S’ key was pressed and simply display the time at the point it was stopped. If ‘S’ was pressed again, it would continue counting up. In other words, ‘S’ just pauses it. There is no need to pause the count-down. Only the count-up. Design: The numbers should be as large as possible. i.e. fill the stage from left to right, with a 20 pixel safe area on the left and right. This will be displayed on a plasma screen, not a PC. Font: The timer numbers should hopefully be standard text and not images. Therefore allowing a font change if needed. The app: The app would be full screen, running on 1024x768, and be compiled as a PC executable – no toolbars or ‘blue’ bars allowed. An installer is allowed if required. The app would be running on a standalone PC with no other applications running on it. I need quotes quickly, as once the job is given, this will need to be turned around within a maximum of 48 hours.
