SIMPLE SOFTWARE to add a DESKTOP ICON

We are working on an eCommerce website and the client asked for a software to add a desktop icon with a link to the website. Basically, you are a customer logged in the system and you are able to download a simple software from the clients area. After you install the software, you get a desktop icon (with a company's logo) and a link to the start menu (or all programs menu). When you click on the icon, your browser will open the client area. Let's make it a little more complicated. The software needs to remember usernames of clients who download it. So, you are a user "mark33". You download the software from the clients area and install it. The desktop link needs to be something like "[login to view URL] It does not have to remember the password because of security reasons.
