PHP script to update WordPress database

PHP Cron script (Runs once daily) to read from an .xml file and populate into the wordpress database. We will give a copy of the theme for testing the inputting the new data and a brief overview of the data and the specifics needed. What important is; 1) Importing, editing and deleting data. 2) If there has been any changes on the .xml each day to update the record(s) within wordpress according to the changes on the .xml. 3) If the record is no longer on the .xml then to remove it from the wordpress database. In short; take the entire .xml feed into an array, then take the data from the wordpress database into an array, compare the latest data within the .xml processed array against the MySQL processed array and insert new data if it's in the .xml array and not within the MySQL array. Next, If the record within the .xml processed matches a record within the MySQL array but the data is different within the .xml processed array compared to the MySQL array, then update the MySQL record to the database accordingly. Finally, if there is data within the MySQL processed array which isn't within the .xml processed array, remove the MySQL record. PHP, MySQL and WordPress experience is very important. We are a group of developers, so if you could give us a quick run over your development plan it would be most appreciated, as we would like to know how you would construct your code for performing inserting, updating and deleting. I are not doing it ourselves due to workload. Please note: We added this project last week but didn't get the .xml file to proceed but we have been assured it will be ready by 5pm UK time, so all being well we can start this evening or at latest tomorrow morning Also please feel free to ask any questions.
