364715 Web Dev: Member Area & Payment

SUMMARY: Additional web development needed for a client website that is under construction. Fairly simple web dev. May lead to future work, its for site that is being constructed now. 1) Need to create a secure membership login area for chosen applicants, with simple to use interface. 2) Needs to allow members to pay for seminars via a shopping cart (with our payment gateway NOT paypal) which they can access/see only once logged in. SOME BACKGROUND: • I'll be setting up the site to work with the MODx CMS ([login to view URL]) (PHP/Ajax based framework) – so I don't have to compromise design. • It's a site where people register their interest in various seminars with limited space etc. • Successful applicants (as chosen by the client) will need to be sent an email with temporary login details (a unique temporary password and username which they change on first log-in) – not all people qualify for the seminars. We need a way of allowing the client to send the acceptance emails as they choose the appropriate attendees. • The attendants use this to log into the membership area, and change their password, retrieve or reset lost passwords, change address and details, see what seminars they have paid for etc… • Here they need to fill in a form with details (it is a more extensive form than usual due to the nature of this business). This is a requirement. It needs to be stored so recurrent users need only fill it out the one time. In the case of those who choose to attend several seminars, these attendants are required (at time of payment) to check that the information given on this form is still correct and are given the option to change or update if not. Perhaps they are directed to check this information is correct AFTER payment has been set up. • We have a payment gateway attached to the merchant account that will handle all payments made via the shopping cart software. • Seminars have limited space (varies with each seminar) and so I wanted to set up an ecommerce facility that automatically counts down the available spaces left in each. • Needs to have a simple way of allowing the client to update the shopping cart with details of new seminars (as they are listed), number of spaces and price etc… AIM: • To make it easy for applicants to keep track of what they have paid for & their details. • To save repeat applicants from having to fill out the same information form each time they apply for a seminar • To make it easier for the company to deal with information handling of registered applicants with an automated backend system (so they can export attendee's form information to a CSV file for instance) • To offer different payment methods (eg: one off payments, option to pay set amount per month over 3 months etc which I can set up in the payment gateway with recurring billing) for each seminar and have the shopping cart count down the available spaces left in each (keep track of inventory) OTHER DETAILS: I have not yet chosen an eCommerce system to use, as not everyone is familiar with them all, and not all can be used with other payment gateways, so I though I would leave it open to suggestion incase the winning bidder wishes to suggest something they are familiar with. I have a few in mind, but nothing set in stone, so am happy to hear your suggestions. The ecommerce facility needs to be simple, with a decent backend interface (nothing too complex necessary as there are only ever up to 10 seminars at any one time). It needs to work with the payment gateway (attached to our merchant facility) and allow us to set it up so when customers/attendees are ready to checkout, they click a link to the Payment Gateway website, and all the billing information filled out in the cart is passed across to the payment gateway for processing. The fact they have paid for this seminar will then need to show up under that member's login page. I will most likely install the shopping cart, but may possibly need some help with it. I like how foxycart integrates with MODx CMS, however open-source or minimal cost options are preferred due to budget & I would like to hear your suggestions. Magneto would work with the payment gateway, though may be far too large & complex for our needs. The site design is in progress, but once finished and the CMS installed, this web development would need to be completed rather quickly, as the client needs the site up and running as soon as possible as there were some earlier delays. It needs to be secure and tested so that it works. From memory you'll have access to PHP 5, MySQL, Apache and its on a Unix server – can confirm that later *(IF necessary i can possibly set up Skype conversation or call to a designated landline phone if we need to speak about the project through its duration. Excuse the extreme detail, but it is far better to have too much than too little.) In your bid please include: 1. quote for cost of coding/creating the membership login and area – so they can view details of paid for items, see their form details, reset /retrieve passwords as above 2. quote for writing a small script or setting something up in the backend that will allow the client/company to send the acceptance email with an automated password as described 3. what it will roughly cost if I end up needing help with the ecommerce cart (may only need some coding help but can clarify as it happens) - this is not definite yet 4. feel free to send links to samples or your website, location etc 5. please let me know how soon you could have this work done (how long it would take to complete) Thanks and if you need to know more don't hesitate to ask :)
