Coder will write a very simple PHP application which will access any Web page on any remote website and will search and replace words according to a selected scheme. The application will display the converted results on-the-fly, with all HTML intact. The application will be called on a website as follows: [login to view URL] Coder will also develop a HTML panel that will allow the user to enter a Web page as well as a scheme. The application will use the case of the source word to define the case of the replacement word. If the source webpage word is all uppercase, then the replacement word will be uppercase. Likewise for lowercase. Also if a source webpage word is uppercase for the first letter and lowercase for the second letter, then the replacement word will be all lowercase and the first letter uppercase. As an example, if "you" is to be replaced with "ye", then: YOU converts to YE you converts to ye You converts to Ye The master list of word conversions should be stored as a file that can be easily edited, but if the coder believes this will cause a performance penalty then the conversions may be hardcoded into the PHP application. The coder will write a demonstration application that will convert words as follows: 1. Olde style scheme replace 'you' with 'thee' replace 'your' with 'thy' replace 'would' with 'woulde' 2. Gangsta scheme replace 'you' with 'yo' replace 'the' with 'tha' replace 'that' with 'dat' Each scheme will allow the coder to define at least 200 search/replace pairs for each scheme. Coder will add a hardcoded setting that will allow pages to be displayed from either "*" (all Web domains) or from "[login to view URL]" (a predefined domain only). Coder must document his/her code and strive for simplicity.
