Hi, I've managed an ISP business for 20 years, always on Linux and Cisco kit. I'm currently working mostly with AWS and Docker. I code in Java.
Is this a micro instance as performance for micro is not guaranteed. Also, if you create another, identical instance, is performance better/normal?
It's important to treat instances like cattle and not pets. Sometimes they need to be destroyed to resolve issues. They're not intended to be long-running. If you have just a single instance, then, to get used to this you need to use Vagrant or Cloudformation or something to easily recreate the instance. Ideally, keep data in RDS (free tier applies) otherwise, you have to dump and restore automatically (to S3) as part of your provisioning.
Regards,
