Exit pop stopping from leaving site + redirector

I'm looking to have an exit pop type message pop-in when someone clicks to leave the site (like by clicking the tab to exit or going to a new tab). It would be one where we could edit the message (even if it's in the code) and have it say something like: "Are you sure you want to leave? Click cancel to stay or click okay to see some other special deals we have..." and if they click ok, it then just pops a new window / tab with another page we have (and they can leave normally then). The problem we're encountering is that it seems that most exit pops out there seem outdated or aren't working with all browsers (Chrome, Safari, FireFox, etc.). This would have to work on those, and it would have to stop someone for a second from just leaving.
