List the ﬁles (name, size, date, time, and status bits) in the root directory. 3. Copy a ﬁle from the root directory of the ﬂoppy to your local directory. 4. List contents of a subdirectory.

I can do it by c++(DOS version or window as well), I known the structure of FAT16 that use for manage floopy disk. I want to discuss more about reading file, directory from disk and copy to current folder. It done by window API or need to do all by analyzing FAT?

I have good understanding of the FAT file system: I did program once an OS "driver" for this file system. I can do all the task required tasks in any of the following languages: C, C++ (preferably), or JAVA. Also, I would like to know on which system this tool will be deployed ?
