My Website is almost done.
I need the XML datafeed as I need to advertise someone else's IT courses on my website, so needing thousands of pages.
I have been advised that the feed will automatically create the pages and categories, but works still needs to be done.
I have been advised that a new system needs to be written and that an XML file is just a bunch of data in a special format, on it's own the XML file doesn't actually do anything, so a system needs to be written to interpret that data and turn it into actual pages on my site.
I have been advised that I need to have a new system written which regularly checks if the XML file has been updated and if it has, create/amend the necessary pages on my website. On the system's first run it will create all the pages for the first time.
Also, I have been advised that all the code for the system needs to be written and create the necessary graphical design elements for the system to use when it creates pages (page templates, buttons etc.).
Can you do this ? at what cost/ timescale ?
Hi,
I need some more information in order to be able to help you. Let me ask some questions.
Do you have a URL for the XML data feed? If not, where is the data?
Is there already an API for file upload built to load the data into the database? If no or not sure could I see the code or web to look around at what is needed?
The parsing XML part is quite simple... but I suspect maybe another part is missing. Would love to help...Looking around at the site/code would really help.
Thanks,
Ed
