Hi, I am currently in my final year studying Industrial Design at Northumbria University. The project I am working on is all about prolonging life underneath an avalanche until the search and rescue team can arrive on sight. To do this I want to manufacture a ski jacket which incorporates a redesigned version of the Avalung by Black Diamond. I will redesign the avalung to suit a jacket however, I need someone to make 1 prototype of the jacket, as I have never had any experience with sewing and pattern making before. The Brief I have drawn up sketches of what I would like the ski jacket to look like. The main USP of the jacket will be the breathing membrane, however the sketches show other small features I would like on the jacket. These features are: - Specialised pocket on the front of the jacket to fit an avalanche transceiver in it. I see it as a right-hand breast pocket with access from the outside. - Insulated left-hand breast pocket to stop phones from losing battery due to the cold weather. - Pocket on the upper right-hand sleeve which holds the Suunto MC-2 Compass and Clinometer (used to measure how steep a slope is) - Recco Reflector on the upper left-hand sleeve - Ski pass pocket on the left forearm (must fit card measuring 86mmX54mm) - Ski Map pocket on the Right Forearm (must fit map measuring - Adjustable Wrist Straps - Snow cuffs - Deep neck to protect from the snow - Snow Skirt - Magnetic Closures on the main zip. - Waterproof seams and stitches I have got the Sunnto MC-2 compass and the Recco Reflector and I can send you these for sizing and sewing. I can source all the materials, however with my limited knowledge into fashion design, I may need some guidance as to what components are needed for the jacket. Sizing I would like the jacket to be made to this sizing – Mens L Chest 42 – 44 inches (107 – 112cm) Waist 35 – 37 inches (89 – 94cm) Hip 41 – 43 inches (104 – 109cm) Sleeve Length 34.75 inches (88cm) I haven’t decided on colour scheme yet. The deadline for this project is the 1st May so to get good photos of the Jacket, I need the jacket to be finished for the middle of April. Thank you very much for your interest.
