Hi There, WE will design, built, test and ship the Data loging hardware. We suggest to use a SD card in a device and an Android app should be built to retrieve the log. The app will communicate with Data logger through Bluetooth interface, this can be very helpful in setting GPS location of Data logger and we may eliminate GPS module from Data logger (it is assumed that data logger will be fixed and not moving). Hello, I happen to be an expert in Data Loggers and about to publish a manual for making them. For your application, I would suggest using an ESP32 or a CC1350 I will need more details about the project to determine which one is best for you. I have suggested these two options because of the sampling frequency you need which is 2Hz and is very low, the number of inputs will suffice and if it doesn't we can expand the number of pins using different methods, there is no use of using an RPi in this case as it has a lot of services and peripherals that we won't use thus it consumes a lot of power. The CC1350 consumes 10mAh which is very low it has 3 cores, one for data acquisition, one for computation and one for transmission through 433Mhz channels which we won't even power. The ESP32 consumes 40mAh (4 times more than the CC1350) but it has a deep sleep mode and if it is well programmed it can consume less than the CC1350, it has two cores one for data acquisition and the other for communication which we won't power also, it has Built-in Bluetooth and Wifi and I can suggest a way of retrieving data from the SD card through Bluetooth or wifi from an Android/iPhone App without having to touch the device and removing the SD card and you can do it from home. for the battery we can use a Li-Po (which is mostly used in this field) we can also add a port to charge it.I'll need more details to determine the sensors, I'm allowed 1500 characters only here, please contact me in private.

I'm an experienced developer with a keen interest in the Raspberry Pi and Arduino. I've worked on many Pi and Arduino related projects using various input/output boards. I would recommend using an Arduino for your project due to its fast startup, low power consumption and no need for a safe shutdown. I have interfaced many sensors with both the Pi and Arduino using various interfaces such as I2C, SPI and analogue to digital. I have also worked with GPS boards, recording the GPS NMEA messages. I have various Arduino boards, but would need to purchase the gas sensors and also an sd card interface. Writing to sd card seems to be the most sensible method of capturing the data. Do you need any visual notification of gas detection? I would be very interested in working with you on your gas detection project.

Hi I can create this as a nice little gadget with all electronics on professionally designed and constructed PCBs and enclosed in a small casing. It would be power sensitive to allow it to run on battery and conserve energy as much as possible. However, i would like to know a little more about the intent for such a device, where do you want to use it and what application ? Its just to give me a better idea of what it is you really want to accomplish so that more informed decisions can be taken. The data can be easily stored in the microSD card in a human readable format (say txt or CSV file) or in an encrypted manner that would require a secondary software to decrypt and make it readable. We have developed similar systems before, there are different models of gps trackers, we can add a gas sensor to them. Do you have a server, where to transfer data or do you just want to write to the SD card? The cost and time approximate. We will be glad to help you.

I believe to be highly competent and experienced in sensory, analog, RF, digital and power electronics design as well as embedded firmware for many microcontrollers. I have followed products from initial concept and prototyping to mass production. Some recent accomplishments are listed under my portfolio. Note in particular the GPS logger (for aircraft tests, with storage on uSD). Looking at the proposed gas sensors I noticed their relatively high power consumption (for heating), which means a tradeoff between battery autonomy and size/weight must be found. Also, depending on desired precision they may have to be compensated with additional measurements of temperature and humidity.
