I have an online data gathering project. I have a list of approximately 214 restaurants. I also have 5 websites identified that contain lots of information about all these restaurants.
The task is to go to each of the 5 sites, and on each site look up each of the 214 restaurants, and copy and paste the identified information into a spreadsheet that I have created for this purpose (google sheet).
I have very detailed step-by-step instructions for each of the 5 sites on how to do this and on what information to gather on each site, where to find it, and where it goes on the spreadsheet.
Required background and skills:
- good English skills
- familiarity with basic keyboard shortcuts (copy, paste, find)
- having 2 monitors set up is a huge plus. This will allow you to have the information source website on one monitor, and the spreadsheet open on the other with the instructions open as well -- so you don't have to keep switching back and forth. If you have 2 monitors, you will get the job done much faster
- attention to detail
- ability to follow detailed written instructions
I have done tests and timing of the tasks. My estimate is that this project will take approximately 35 hours.
The process for the selected tasker will be:
1. I will share with you the detailed instructions document and the spreadsheet
2. you will read the document carefully and confirm you understand the instructions
3. you will do a quick test collecting information of 10 restaurants from the first site
4. will check and confirm it was done correctly
5. then you will complete gathering information for the remaining 190 restaurants from the first site
We will then repeat steps #3-5 for all of the other 4 sites.
I would like the task completed in 4 days.
If you do a good job I may extend the project by giving you one or two more sites to get information from for these restaurants (but I want to see how good the performance is first).
