Simple password script needed

Simple password script needed. I have a simple website online for an online game I play ([url removed, login to view]) and I'd like to have a separate section of the site with private information for the guild I play in. I can put a link from the links area of the page to a new "directory" page which would contain links to the private pages. The problem is I want to make the directory page "password only" access. I have no idea how to do this (I dont know PHP and have just learned HTML). I use Dreamweaver MX for the webpage and it contains frames (sign of a newbie). What I envision is this (you can visit the site to see): Visitor enters site and finds index. Clicks on button on left that reads PRIVATE. The file "PRIVATE" on the server is a second directory with links to the private information. To access this new directory I'd like a login-password screen to pop up first then when the password is entered it would show the private directory page. I'm sure this is very simple I just have no idea (I'm drive a gas tanker for a living web design is something I'm new at). I'm looking for someone to write this script for me with detailed instructions on how to install it. If this can be done I'd be willing to provide compensation for the time. I've seen alot of online scripts for sale (like [url removed, login to view]) at websites but to be honest I don't have any idea if its what I need or how to install it. At the xaviermedia website for instance (you can check it at the URL I posted) they make it look like a simple "cut and paste to the top of the page" setup. Is it really that easy? I would also be willing if required to provide the coder with a zip-file of my dreamweaver MX page (directory) so they could install the code (if that is all that is required).
