Job Overview:
Currently seeking an experienced developer to build an optimal search engine database that is capable of storing and organizing significant amounts of data without clutter.
The database interface design needs to be clean, easy to navigate and user-friendly. It also needs to include a map function that will pull information based on location of city, state, and areas of proximity based on zip codes. It also needs a secure setup for online gateway payments. The site has to function perfectly with zero glitches.
The Database Administrator/Developer will be responsible for developing the site architecture, implementing the database structure and ensuring data integrity.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Designs and build a database-driven site
Create database objects, including databases, tables, views, and program structures.
Ensure data integrity using features of the DBMS (database management systems) such as physical integrity, semantic integrity and internal structures (i.e. index consistency, pointer consistency, backup consistency).
Monitor SQL database performance, recommend, and implement performance tuning, analyze access patterns and recommend application changes to optimize capacity, latency, and throughput.
Backup and recovery of databases.
Support database consolidation and data migrations initiatives.
Improve upon existing solutions by continuously refining database physical structure and functional capabilities, database security, data back-up, and recovery specifications.
Make recommendation and modifications to the requirements and specifications that will enhance database.
Build in system reliability, serviceability and scalability.
Serve as the subject matter expert instituting best practices and answering technical and procedural questions.
Requirements:
A Computer Science major or related field and at least 2-4 years of experience in database administration and development.
Advanced PHP/SQL knowledge & support
Skills in database configuration, high availability design, data access optimization, and high performance database interface design.
Strong experience of relational databases, backup and restore operations, DB logins/permissions, stored procedures, schema, triggers, database maintenance activity, etc.
Demonstrates a strong understanding of the database development life cycle including data modeling, database coding, testing, and implementation.
Demonstrates an understanding of complex problem solving techniques dealing with physical database creation and support.
Strong experience writing SQL scripts, SSRS, SSIS
A team player with excellent communication skills and great attention to detail is essential
Self-motivated and largely self-directed.
