I need a program (or component) that intercepts printing jobs in Windows and records how many pages a user is printing. It should also be possible to cancel printer jobs.
The program should be run on a Windows NT/2000/XP server and support both Windows NT/2000/XP, as well as Windows 95/98/ME clients.
There is no need for fancy GUI, as long as there is an interface that is possible to interact with:
* Start/stop service
* Get information about number of printed pages, user name and printer job name.
* Cancel print job.
Should support Postscript, HP/PCL (and possible Epson ESC/P2) printers.
It is important to notice that the standard Windows NT API functions may appear to be a simple and reliable way to retrieve necessary information. However Windows NT page count accuracy depends on the print driver. Jobs not processed by a Win32 print driver or that have multiple copies, will not have an accurate page count. This means that incorrect or zero page counts be reported for jobs with multiple copies and jobs created on/by, Windows 95, 98, ME.
