Nicolaus Copernicus, a Polish scientist, in the early 1500s proposed that the planets revolved around the sun instead of a common belief that Earth was the center of the universe. His model wasn't completely correct but it formed a strong foundation for future scientists to build mankind's understanding of heavenly bodies' motion. Thank you!
