This was an epic historical fiction manuscript set in WWII. When I handed it to her, it had over 280,000 words. It needed a knowledgeable and adept developmental editor to cut it down yet still make sense. She completed 2 rounds of developmental edits that ultimately made the book coherent and compelling, with a much stronger story arc and endearing characters. She then tackled a line-edit, another monumental project which she accomplished with incredible skill, making this book far more memorable and heartwrenching than I ever thought possible. It's now a much tighter and faster-moving book at around 200,000 words. (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows has 198,227 words) For this epic project, I simply don't have sufficient adjectives to describe her talents. Abby is kind, personable, attentive, professional, and highly skilled. She understands fiction writing and editing better than some English professors I know. She has my highest recommendation. If she can make my manuscript this good, imagine what she can do for an author who is far more skilled than I.
