Upgrade/Fix OSCommerce Site

My site's shopping cart has been generating the following error:

FATAL ERROR: register_globals is disabled in [url removed, login to view], please enable it!

The webhost provider has indicated that they have disabled the register_globals variable due to security concerns. I assume that a new version of OSCommerce is available to correct this issue. I'm not sure what version OSCommerce my site uses....but the site was developed 7 or 8 years ago.

So the project is to upgrade the files to comply with the allowable settings of my web host. While keeping the existing database and website design intact.
