We are a testing laboratory (i.e. food safety) and we are looking for a developer to build a Laboratory Information Management System. This system would manage the information coming into our lab, through it and out of our lab. This would include the management of clients, test methods, sample submissions, sample preparation, upload of results from instrumentation, final calculations of results and report creation. Ideally it would have a client portal for clients to go into and submit data (before sending us samples) and view status and result reports. We were originally going to develop one in MS Access and SQL but others have suggested a web app on top of SQL would be better.

I've attached several files that give an overview and some detail on what we are thinking. As we are a small startup lab, we will likely continue a relationship with the developer to continue to make improvements over time as we identify them. We have a server onsite in our lab but may also eventually move completely to an online server someday.
