I am looking at setting up a website which would list events - an events calendar basically. I am focusing on a particular industry though.
What would i need the site to do?
EVENT DETAILS (to be entered by client or admin)
Event Name
Address and City
When (date, time)
Client Details (website, logo, email)
Type of event
Type of client
Client logo
SEARCH FUNCTIONALITY (using one or all of the below, public can see what events are coming up)
Type of events
Client name (optional)
City
Month of event
Search box should be well placed and easy to use
DISPLAY RESULTS (on the landing page as well on search)
By City/Country
By Month
By Client Type
By Event Type
Display of events should be well laid out.
USERS
Client login (client name, email, address, phone - must be approved by admin before they can start posting)
Admin login (can input event details on behalf of client)
BACKEND
- easy to input and delete events
- a dashboard that would allow entry of bulk events
- ability to re-use pictures and logos
- events should auto expire after the end date
- all events would be online till the date of event has lapsed
OTHERS
- public can share events through social media
- Social Media like boxes for my site
- Google Analytics integration
- Mailchimp integration
- Captcha & spam control plugins
Thats it.
I am not looking at Wordpress solutions/themes - I have already tried out 2 leading ones and not happy with the look and feel.
I would like a minimalist display of content with maximum 2 colours. Easy to read and find.
Interested to know how long and how much such a project would cost. i am assuming this is an easy one and hence indicated a Simple project budget.

Forgot to add this to the initial brief under OTHERS heading:
- There should be a Sidebar on the right side of the page for ad integration such as Google AdSense, paid client ads etc - size would be 300x250.
This is the same side bar that would contain the Social Media LIKE boxes, MailChimp Signup, User login etc.
- The footer will have an ad provision as well - Size would be 728x90
- Also please reply back with the following 2 queries addressed (if you can) :
(1) What programming language will you use?
(2) Are you able to show me an example or two of other websites out there that would match what I am after in terms of design and usability?
