Crack a hashing algorithm

I need someone to crack a hashing algorithm for me.

I am a programmer myself but I simply can't do it. I know that it's doable, since I have seen a working example.

Basically, what I need done, is that I need to be able to recreate a signature. I have written an application that checks about 22 million combinations of variables one would expect to be involved in the hashing process, without success. The hashing method is most likely sha1 as the signature is 40 bytes long.

I will link the working example I know of and explain everything in detail once I chose you.
