This is the follow-up project to "Matching two datasets using imprecise text identifiers". It will be awarded to Gauri Gupta (gaurigupta08).
The project involves matching two sets of data based on imprecise text identifiers. (Both files are in SAS) In particular, the first file (fok_2003) includes the names and some auxiliary information on financial securities, some of which are mutual funds and some are not; there is also no identifier whether the security is a mutual fund or not. Security identification information can be either in the field id1, field id1a, or both. Mutual funds in this dataset need to be matched to second dataset which contains the names of mutual funds (along with some auxiliary information as well). Two sample files are attached, for anyone interested I would be more than willing to provide additional clarification.
