We need someone to edit or write code so that visitors to our site who attempt to join our email subscriber list but make a mistake receive a friendly error code message. Here are the facts:
We are using a form on our home page to capture the email address.
There is a hidden Error Message URL link in the form that goes to a landing page within our website.
For example: [url removed, login to view] Email-Error-Page-s/[url removed, login to view]
Error codes are returned in the URL by our hosted email software (Exact Target).
For Example: [url removed, login to view];errorcontrol=lid
The form and the error page reside on our hosted Volusion Website (ASP based).
We need code that retrieves the error message # from the URL and returns a friendly message such as:
"You have already subscribed to this list" or
“Invalid email address provided”
We have a sample code for parsing error codes written in ASP and other formats furnished by the hosted email company that include the error codes and their meanings.
We just do not have the expertise required to put it in the correct place on the landing page. We are not certain whether we will need to create a custom ASP page or if we can insert the code within a page of the Volusion template system (referred to in the case as a category page). Our preference is to use a category page so that we can add additional versions in the future and also because Volusion makes it very difficult to publish a custom asp page.
We can provide the parsing error code samples. You can learn more about Volusion by visiting their site. A sample version of the form is located at [url removed, login to view] This is just a test page.
