UPDATE 10/03: 1) I want to clarify that you may use your own design of the Neg Maron statue in your design if you feel that would create a better t-shirt. I of course reserve the right to chose shirts with my original art or a new creation depending on which I feel is most unique and artistic.

I would like a t-shirt made from a black and white piece of art I made. Picture is attached. The picture is of a famous statue called Neg Maron from the country of Haiti. If you Google Neg Maron you'll find lots of pictures of the statue and many t-shirts of it. Wikipedia has additional information as well. I've included several links below where you can get background information on Neg Maron and Haiti.

The statue commemorates Haiti's slave revolt against France that made Haiti the world's first independent nation of former slaves. It's a symbol of pride for the Haitian community worldwide. The man in the picture is a runaway slave. I'd like to create a t-shirt that captures my artwork but may also incorporate the ideals of liberty, freedom, revolution against oppression, the Haitian Coat of Arms, or the Haitian flag. Which of these to include and to what extent, I will leave it to your artistic interpretation. You may also consider adding something to the back of the shirt too (not required though). Color can be added. What I don't want is for the t-shirt to look like all the other Neg Maron t-shirts you'll see if you do a Google image search for "Neg Maron T-shirt".

Words you might include in the design include:
* 1804 (The year of Haitian independence. A very significant date in the Haitian community.)
* Liberté ou La Mort (Liberty or Death in French)

The end result should be a cool design that the Haitian community would embrace and be proud to wear. Seeing the design on a white and grey/black shirt would be nice to see what works best.
