Barefoot Academy is an educational department of Barefoot Networks (http://barefootnetworks.com) dedicated to providing high-quality training for its customers on its products. The training focuses on Barefoot Networks products, such as Tofino(tm) -- world's fastest and fully programmable switching ASIC, Capilano(tm) Software Development Environment (SDE) and the P4 language (http://p4.org).

We'd like to have the following:
1. A coat-of-arms or a similar design element that graphically represents the ideas, expressed in the design guidelines below, conveys a relation to an established academic institution and will become a formal graphical representation of Barefoot Academy
2. A mascot, that is a fun character, easily relatable to some of the ideas below. It can be a cousin of Linux Penguin (e.g. another bird, e.g. a parrot or a puffin), or a cousin of P4.org's Polar Bear (i.e. another distinct bear, like a panda), or a totally different character. It should be usable independently and be a less formal representation of Barefoot Academy. It should also be "flexible", i.e. it can be easily incorporated into a wide variety of designs and situations.
3. A logo that displays the words "Barefoot Academy" together with the coat-of-arms and/or the mascot
4. A round seal that displays the coat of arms, the mascot, the words "Barefoot Academy" and the "Ingenium Reticulum Programmare!" motto.

Design guidelines:
We are looking for a couple of design elements that we can also combine and reuse later. The main ideas that we would like to express are:
1. Strong relation to Barefoot Networks (but the name is "Barefoot Academy"), including the colors and the font (see the company website)
2. Relation to P4 Language (see p4.org website) since we use P4 language to program our Tofino ASIC
3. Relation to high-performance silicon chips
4. Relation to computer networking. Specifically, our motto is "Ingenium Reticulum Programmare!" which roughly means "Program Networks Inventively!"
5. Focus on formal, academic training
6. Something that evokes the following - Fast, Programmable, Networks, High-Performance, etc.

    Dear contestants,

    First of all, thank you so much for the enthusiastic submissions!

    I would like to clarify a couple of points so far:
    1. Please, take a look at the company website (http://barefootnetworks.com). You will see that we are generally not using a real human foot, but a foot-styled infinity sign. Bare paws (Bear paws), bird feet are OK, but human foot resembles a lot of other companies, like Barefoot wine.
    2. So far, I haven't seen designs that would incorporate references to all the elements that were in the description. For one reason or another, networking and high-performance chips are pretty much totally missing and learning/academics are represented only sporadically.
    3. I get it that vectorized 3-D designs can be rendered in a variety of ways, but it would be more helpful to submit actually different design ideas. We will certainly refine the details of the winning design anyway.
