During my two and a half years as an English-language reporter for Kyodo News, Japan’s largest newswire service, I covered a range of news and feature stories, from business, technology and politics, to entertainment and the environment. In addition, as Author and Artist Relations Associate for TOKYOPOP, I developed marketing strategies with the publishing company’s editorial, sales, and marketing teams to help promote more than 120 authors and artists and their graphic novels. These marketing campaigns included writing promotional emails to subscribers as well as articles for the TOKYOPOP website. My years as an editor for the press release distribution service PR Newswire provided me with valuable experience processing business-related copy, including earnings statements, dividend and personnel announcements and product launches.
