Isola Fluire Logo and Colour Breakdown

For this assignment, I had to make up my own name and create a logo for a fictional Spa Resort in Mauritius. I looked up words on Google translate, wanting an Italian background for the spa resort. My idea behind the logo came from my connection between shells, that specific flower (yes, I suck at the names of things and people) and islands. I drew the shell in CorelDraw X4 and edited the colouring in Photoshop and then used the trace effect in Illustrator. After deep etching the flowers in Photoshop, I repeated the last two steps of the shell with the flowers. Keeping with the idea of flowing, relaxed and "upmarket", I was extremely selective with the font I used for the writing. Ultimately, this was setting the tone for every piece that followed afterward.

About Me

I am a creative and technically minded person. Most of my career has been graphic design/dtp work very closely related to printing. I am near obsessed with doing things the right way and always willing to learn more. My second last job in the design and printing field introduced me to Mac, InDesign and preparing images for the web. My current job (even though I'm not doing any design or actual dtp work) has taught me a tremendous amount about scanning, photo editing and colour quality. My boss is an Adobe certified Instructor. In other words, he knows his shit and if you know what is lacking in your knowledge base, you pay close attention to what the person does and says. This understandably lead me to do some research of my own. With all that being said - and then adding that interiors, furniture design, renovation and restoration on buildings is what really sets my neurons alive - I'm here to expand my work area
