South Africa is very much driven by process known as BEE. It was implemented by our government a good couple of years ago and the idealistic purpose behind it, is that Business owners are expected to partner with someone who was previously in a situation where they were a victim of apartheid. This "movement" is known as Black Economic Empowerment. It entitles people of colour of a previously disadvantaged background a fair opportunity to be part of running a fortune 500. As part of that entitlement, there are actually a lot of executive jobs which can only be filled by someone who meets the criteria mentioned. There are also a lot of SME through to Corporate companies which are one hundred percent black owned. Companies recieve a rating (BEE Status) for the percentage of ownership to people of colour.
