For my entire life I've been an educator. How many kids do you know play School over summer break? The role of wife of over 30 years, mother and dental hygienist, fits the educator role pretty well, add to that the love of an audience and I really do have the perfect life. The newest permutation, which includes writing for a varied audience, is my salvation as I get to think before I say what needs saying. My talent is in making difficult things a little easier to understand. I've written for consumer magazines, peer review publications in medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy. The Web is not a stranger to me either, a simple Google search will bring up many of my pieces. In 2004 The Purple Guide: Developing Your Clinical Dental Hygiene Career co-authored with Amy Nieves was self published. In 2009 The Purple Guide: Confronting Caries was released and in 2010 The Purple Guide: Paper Persona and Paper Persona Workbook co authored with Dr. Heidi Emmerling was published by my own publishing company Exploring Transitions, LLC. Clinical dental hygiene practice is in the shadows now, although not forgotten. There are new ways to look at dental disease, the effects on dependent adults are traumatic. Writing about oral health, career development, parenting or marriage are all up for grabs now. I love my life!
