Hello, I’m Stephen, PhD. Academic writing is where my technical precision meets my passion for creative, research-driven expression. Years of dedicated research and academic study shaped me into a writer who values precision, originality, and the quiet art of turning complexity into understanding. As a writer, I know how structure builds meaning, and the role of language in making complex concepts accessible and engaging. Those same principles now shape my approach to academic writing and editing, allowing me to transform critical research and complex theories into clear, structured, and meaningful scholarly work. I spent the last 14 years of my career as a freelance technical writer, and enjoyed every minute of it. I have written and refined dissertations, theses, research papers, reports, essays, and case studies across a wide range of disciplines. Whether crafting a new paper or refining an existing manuscript, my goal is to help clients express complex ideas with clarity and academic rigor. In addition, I am a technical writer with a doctorate in electrical engineering. About halfway through my career, I discovered I could write and write well. Most of my writing was for the medical electronics industry in Silicon Valley, but I also worked in the industrial realm. My first job position after having completed my Doctoral program at Berkeley was as a control systems engineer for Kaiser Aluminum. I also worked for G.E. Aerospace as a subcontractor to Livermore Labs, where I got my Secret and Top Secret clearance. My Approach: I value originality, intellectual depth, and research-driven writing. I personally write and edit every project through in-depth research, critical analysis, and carefully structured academic writing. Academic Writing & Research Services: -Dissertation & Thesis Writing -Academic Research & Literature Reviews -Research Papers, Essays & Case Studies -Editing, Proofreading & Formatting -Turnitin AI & Plagiarism Reports If you are seeking a dedicated academic writer and editor, I would be honored to contribute my expertise to your project. Sincerely, Steve, PhD

PhD Electrical Engineering
1970
University of California, Berkeley
This award is one of the requirements for finding a research position at a good university. It is actually a proof of having performed independent research in Electrical Engineering to the satisfaction of the electrical engineering faculty. It also required successful completion of several graduate courses and passing critical oral and written exams.

Time Domain Versus Frequency Domain Metal Bioelectrode Measurements
1974
Proc. Electroencephalography and Clinical Neurophysiology
We measured the response of Metal Bioelectrodes to pulses of varying shapes and amplitudes. We also measured the response of these electrodes to sine waves of various frequencies, especially low frequencies. The very low frequencies required sustained measuring that lasted several days.

The Use of Photoconductive Cells in Photoplethysmography
1973
Med. and Biol. London
We measured the response of photoconductive cells to pulses of light of various frequencies, pulse shapes, and temperatures.

Detectivities of Photoconductive and Silicon p-i-n Light Sensors in Photoplethysmography
1972
T.I.T. Journal of Life Sciences, Philadelphia
Photoplethysmography is a process in which light is introduced to a blood artery, reflected back by the blood within that artery, and measured by a sensor. We measured the frequency response of two different types of sensors: photoconductive and silicon p-i-n Light Sensors.
