I have been in book production and design since 1988. I am highly skilled in all aspects of book/print layout and design. I am very fluent in Indesign, Photoshop, Microsoft office products and many other tools related to producing high-quality materials for final press output. I have prepared files for traditional printing (offset) and most of the POD services available. I learned publishing in the late 1980s when electronic book production was just getting started. I grew with the technology and now with the turning of the tide in the book industry, I am creating eBooks (epub, Kindle, pdf, etc.) files along with the printable versions.

I design and laid out this book as a cross between a novel and a picture book. It goes great on a coffee table. I created more than a dozen chapter opener images, and spread them throughout the book chapters so you can barely tell that some are used more than once. When placing the images through out the pages, I used all kinds of techniques to the fit them on pages together so each page would look and feel a little or a lot different than the pages around it. This is a 8.5" x 11" in trim so it a large book but I think it balanced out well with the outline guides through out the chapters and the images used for clarification.

Book designer

Absolutely wonderful. Designed a very good looking, professional book, with all the right technical specs I need for print on demand. Even though Rick is in the US and I am in the UK, we communicated very well by email and I very much appreciated his skill, design ability and patience. I will certainly be using him again and thoroughly recommend him for any design/publishing work, whether print based or ebook etc. Quite a find, which I would never have done without this site.
