Coming To Terms

by RA1194

This short story is an assignment from an earlier creative writing course. Students were required to turn in a short story or the beginning of a novel or novella. After turning it in on the day it was due, the class was to review it the next class day. The professor of the course, Dr. Blair, really liked my creativity as well as other peers in the class and gave me positive feedback. "Coming to Terms" which was originally titled, "Denial" is about a criminal who was in so deep of denial, that he blacked out the fact of a crime he committed. At first thinking it is a dream, he encounters the victim of the crime who is a little boy that acts sort of like a guide throughout the story, helping him retrace his steps to the day he committed the crime.
