Managing diversity is an important function of the HR department. Therefore, in light of globalisation and modernisation of operations, it may be best for organisations to pay due attention to managing diversity in the organisation. Organisations stand to gain competitive advantage from effectively managing the workforce diversity in the organisation. Also from the discussion it can be said that a diverse workforce also leads to better motivated employees and better performance at the same time (Lyons & Mayall, 2003). This means that if employees are trained to understand the differences that cultural backgrounds can create between employees and if employees are trained to be sensitive to as these issues, they would be better motivated and liberated and as such their performance would be improved.
