3D Web GIS
With the growing computational capabilities, the need for 3D visualisation and analysis of geospatial data is also on the rise. At the same time the availability of these features across different platforms is also a concern. This project deals with this concern with implementation in the form of WebGIS on "Indian Geo-Platform of ISRO - Bhuvan". The system uses Cesium JavaScript library which allows to interact with a virtual globe upon which the geospatial data is visualised and analysed. Custom terrain is provided from DEM data. 3D models of buildings from various cities are rendered at the client on virtual globe. Terrain Profile generation functionality is provided. User can perform binary viewshed analysis at a viewpoint of choice, the processing for which takes place on server with the help of GDAL and other python tools. All the software used for developing are open source in nature.
