MT: How is Bacterial Meningitis Spread?

\nMeningitis is a medical condition in which the membranes surrounding the brain and the spinal cord suffer an infection. These membranes are called meninges and hence the name, meningitis. It causes swelling in the tissues around the brain. This results in interruption of blood flow to the brain and can lead to paralysis or stroke. The most susceptible to meningitis are the children aged between one month to two years. Also adults with sinus or ear infections are at risk of having meningitis. A person with such a condition must seek medical help immediately.\n
