I was educated at Birkbeck, University of London, UK and at The University of Nottingham, UK, where I received my PhD in History. I have taught modern European history at the Universities of Nottingham, Leicester, Birmingham and Bristol amongst others. I am currently Research Professor at the University of New Mexico. I am a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society.

The work evaluates the transformation which occurred in Germany and the post-war international order due to the inter-Allied work on denazification.
