Urban Rivals
This was made for the Urban Rivals Christmas contest. None of these characters are mine, but I think this picture does give an over all sense of my style and abilities.
About Me
My name is Mimi Alves and here is my work. What I aim for is a story that is why even if a piece is a character standing alone there is generally a scenario s/he is being put into. My work focuses on action and gesture, trying to make the root of every pose be as expressive as possible. I have a very good sense of anatomy with my characters even if they are not meant to be anatomically correct. I always have an idea of how a figure is supposed to works mechanically. I have good line quality as well, whether the lines be quick and loose to emphasize movement or clean with line weight to emphasize dimension and hint at shadow. I enjoy detailed work but have learned to simplify for the sake of clarity and impact.
