Website: Freeneedle
At its height, this directory of free sewing patterns and projects received over 20,000 page views a day. This redesign saw the site moved to WordPress, requiring a lot of information to transferred into a whole new database configuration, with the WordPress admin pages being redesigned to allow the input of information specific to this site. For example, featured images aren not uploaded from the computer of the admin user, but are copied direct from the original web page. While you can add images to the WordPress media library using a URL, the image is not copied as it is here, but is just linked from the original. This site also takes the unusual step of displaying Pin It buttons that pin the URL of the original project page - think of it as ethical pinning.
About Me
I work from my home of 10 years, north of Seville in Spain, splitting my time between design/development and writing. I'm a strong all-rounder who came from a graphic design for print background, but now spends most time producing for the web.
