A business called Zoe Cakes came to me in search of website design services that would both impress and inform. The company makes high-end cakes for occasions like weddings, and is branded around feminine colours and beautifully decorative imagery. I decided to make the website work like a Tumblr blog or an Instagram profile. This is the way people are getting used to browsing, and makes for an elegant website that flows nicely, is completely responsive, and has minimal loading times. Modern website design needs to cater to the short attention spans of modern visitors who are used to social networks and mobile apps. Women’s International Network Erbil, or W.I.N.E, are a NPO based in Erbil, Kurdistan. They invite women who have relocated to the region from all corners of the world to come together for mutual support and solidarity working for good causes in the region. They came to me looking for a company website to expand on their existing Facebook page. Modern websites tend to mimic some of the stronger features of social networks, and the scroll-down functionality of Instagram and Facebook is simple and also means less loading time to wear down the minute attention spans of modern browsers.
