Dr. Muhammad Iqbal: The Great Poet of East
Dr. Iqbal was a great political leader and philosopher of the 20th century. He tried to awaken the Muslims of the British India. His poetry gives us a message of love, peace and brotherhood. He strongly believed in freedom of expression. He fought against his political enemies, the Hindus and the British. He defeated them in the arena of diplomacy and ideology. He had written so many books about the poor condition of the enslaved peoples of the world, especially the Muslims. He presented the idea of the creation of a separate homeland for the Muslims of the British India. After Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, he gave the concept of Two Nation Theory. He urged that the Muslims and the Hindus are two separate nations from all aspects. Hence, the British India should be divided into two separate and independent states. Later on, Mr. Jinnah joined him and convinced his followers and opponents for a separate homeland. At last, Pakistan came into existence on Aug 14th, 1947.
