Primary Health Care Centre
Steel framed based primary health care centre to be located in Carlow town on the site of the existing St Dymphna hospital. The floor area of the building was approximately 5820m2 over three floors and also included an underground car park. The project spanned from January up until the end of the college year in May and included group research with another three class members. The primary frame for the project was a steel frame with concrete hollowcore and structural screed flooring and roofing elements. The walls of the building were insulated using rockwool insulation placed between horizontal and vertical cold rolled steel infill framing, the framing was then finished with cement particle board and made weather tight with an EPDM membrane. The building was clad with a 40mm thick granite rainscreen cladding supportd by a horizontal and vertical rail system.
