I am a computer science PhD student at the University of North Texas. I am a research assistant in a lab focused on natural language processing. [login to view URL] (I'm listed as Wes Solomon). Before entering the PhD program, I had a job with a heavy focus in web crawling and data mining and Silverlight based UI development. I am extremely confident in my ability great results in a very small amount of time on web crawling tasks. My work with the HiLT lab if focused on named entity recognition in clinical text including, but not limited to disorders, medication, symptoms, and subjects. To accomplish the task dictionary lookup algorithms and supervised machine learning techniques are used. Recognition of entities or actions in text is a more in depth task and would require some labelled data to train a model on.
