The "Toro" lamp is a versatile lamp inspired in the japanese art of origami, highlighting faceted shapes, as is common with the author's own personal design style. This project required 3 feet of solid pine wood and laser cut sheet metal, bent and welded to obtain the desired design of the lampshade. It is avaliable in two possible colors; glossy black or glossy white. Some details in cork were also included on the base of the steps and inside the lampshade to cool down the temperature in case of using a classic incandescent light bulb. The cable used in this project is a vintage type one and is lined in red fabric with 2 meters of length, connected to an E14 lamp socket.

About Me

[login to view URL] Born in 1988 in the city of Porto, Portugal; since an early stage in my life I knew in which area i wanted to graduate. Got the degree at ESAD Matosinhos in Product Design and later concluded my master degree in Design by Aveiro University, Portugal. The influences of minimalistic design accompany my work, as well as the use of faceted shapes inspired by the Japanese art of origami, one art capable of turning something as simple as a sheet of paper into complex structures and forms, using it as a distinct personal mark. I believe faithfully that design must develop an environment that creates products with excellent functionality, durability and quality, being the superfluous unnecessary. My personal goal is to respond effectively to the customer's problems, developing useful and distinct pieces that can captivate the user, by solving all problems in a practical and successful manner.
