I am in my fourth year of study at Thames Valley University. I am studying a BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance with sandwich year and am aiming for a First Class pass. I am an ambitious, talented and enthusiastic person. In my third year of university, I was given the opportunity to intern at IBM UK as a revenue reporting analyst for the EMEA Software Group. Whilst there, I received two awards for service and support and many emails of appreciation and thanks for my contribution to profitable revenue growth and the additional time and energy I invested into my role to aid the productivity of the business. When IBM’s organisational structure changed, I undertook the project of restructuring our reporting processes (whilst at the same time anticipating the new needs of the users of the reports and ensuring that every end user was satisfied.) Working weekends during quarter-ends and also starting work at 4:30am during month and quarter-ends (due to differences in time zones) contributed to increased efficiency. This also reflects my adaptability and flexibility. The extension of my contract through the summer months indicates my worthy contribution to the business. I was based remotely from my team and thus had to travel to establish and nurture face-to-face contact with team members. I have also covered roles for colleagues, when they have been away, and my success in this also demonstrates my teamwork ability and diligence. The restructuring that occurred within IBM also prompted creative problem solving techniques to be utilised. I demonstrated proactive contribution to my aligned business through an education presentation I delivered to the Northeast Europe finance functions regarding my role. I not only immersed myself in my role but have been involved in numerous extra-curricular activities. These have ranged from giveback opportunities, such as my involvement in the PowerUp Scheme (a part of the Science and Engineering week), becoming a KidSmart installation engineer, my role within the IBM Foundation Newsletter (as a Starter Group representative and article writer) and my contribution to the Thames 21 project. I was also a member of the IBM Finance team competing in a Rotary Charity Dragon Boat Race on the 17th May 2009. I have always kept up my weight-training as well as my love for kickboxing and I currently train at the Carlson Gracie Academy and dance at Fulham’s Dance Attic. I have also been driven to increase my own skills and have completed the following courses: Brio/Hyperion Basics Plus for Accounting and Finance Professionals (AABRV1); BLG2351 - Overview of IBM Run SAP; SMB PPA Training; ODS and QMF Training. Thank you for your consideration.
