This app, currently entitled ‘Gazo Quotes’ (for lack of a better title), is just a project I felt compelled to undertake to flex my AngularJS, NodeJS, JavaScript, CSS3, HTML5 and Objective C muscles. Having gone through gathering requirements and developing concepts and designs, I feel quite compelled that there is a market for such an application. I am undertaking underlying development using PhoneGap and the Ionic Framework. I decided that doing a Hybrid application was best as I would also develop my web technologies and enable cross-device compatibility. During the feasibility study I did, I found that Ionic was the best framework for me. It is heavily based on AngularJS which I enjoy using for most of endeavors (not to mention everyone today is using it) and it integrates very well with PhoneGap and Cordova. Once my environment was set up, it was basically hitting the ground running using AngularJS, NodeJS, HTML5, CSS3 /SASS and other technologies.

http://www.droidtutorial.com/ - The droid tutorial is a tutorial simulation system which I built to help children as young as 7 and adults as old as humanly attainable with using their Android powered devices. It was built using a variety of web technologies and it was awarded 3rd place at Teleios’ Code Jam Competition 2012. It features a tutorial and a simulation which does not rely on a procedural language (Java, C#, etc) – I believe this makes it very unique. The tutorial section of the website is focused on teaching children and adults about how they can better use their Android device. It is also targeted towards power users and features step-by-step advanced functionality such as rooting. The simulation aspect is basically an open box. Anyone can fiddle around with the operating system and do as they please. It has been replicated as much as possible to a normal Android device.

Initially I would list things online using an XML / XSLT based web application which boasted a responsive design; however, as a gift to someone deer to me who constantly uses mobile devices, I developed a more powerful application built from scratch. An issue with data-input on mobile devices is the rate of entry compared to a traditional keyboards because of its form factor. To circumvent this issue, when a Home is added, once the URL is entered the website is checked via AJAX and it automatically populates the other fields (Name, Location, Closest Station, etc…).
