Before you can use Excel Insight (EI) effectively, you need to understand what it is and how it brings data to your spreadsheet. EI is your spreadsheet – and the reports you build are spreadsheet files. All your spreadsheet skills can be utilized when preparing EI reports. EI works as an Excel template in your spreadsheet and extends the spreadsheet’s functionality by providing more formulas and commands. Once EI is installed and directed to your GL data, it accesses the necessary files and retrieves the requested financial information. You will be unaware of EI’s presence except for an extra toolbar and an added function, available through Excel’s function wizard.
