The client wanted to build an app that raises awareness about the seafood sustainability problem and also provide solutions to those who wish to be a part of the answer. The app has an increasing number of seafood species, distributed in 4 categories. They are populated remotely, from the backend, that is used to update the content throughout the app. Users can find the species that they should consume and the ones that they should avoid, to help maintain the balance of wildlife in Earth’s waters. The most exciting feature of this app is still under development and it involves advanced pattern recognition algorithms. Users will be able to use the smartphone camera to scan a fish in real life conditions and instantly get information about the species they scanned and recommendations regarding it. The app also uses location and map APIs in order to notify users, by location based notifications, about the restaurants and retailers that are nearby. This feature also works while the app
